How to add your own field to the customer card

Custom fields are extra details you want to keep on every customer that Timing does not store by default: allergies, who referred them, a membership number or hair type.

Where to start

Customers tab

  1. Open the customers screen

In the bottom bar choose "Customers", and from there open custom fields.

  2. Add a field

Give it a clear name, for example "Allergies". That name is what you will see on every customer card.

  3. Choose a type

Text, number, date, or a choice from a list. A date field is especially useful: you can build an automation that sends on that date.

  4. Decide how it behaves

You can mark a field as required, so a customer cannot be saved without it, and you can ask for the value to show as a tag on the customer card.

  5. Fill it in on a customer card

The new fields appear on the customer card under "More details", and in the new-customer form.

Tips from the field

Do not mark everything required. One required field you forgot blocks saving a customer in the middle of a busy day.

You can also add free-form tags to a customer and filter the list by them.

Common questions

Professional allows up to 10, Premium up to 50. Free and Basic do not include custom fields.

It disappears from every customer card along with the values entered in it, which is why deleting asks for confirmation.
