How to block time in your calendar

Blocking time marks an hour as taken without booking anyone. A lunch break, a drive, a school pickup, or a day off. Customers cannot book during those hours.

Tap the green "Add appointment" button, or simply tap an empty slot in the calendar at the time you want to block. Tapping a slot fills in the date and time for you.

  3. Choose "Blocked / Private Time"

This is the part people miss. In the dialog, under "Service / Blocked", tap the service field. The first row in the list, with the lock icon, is "Blocked / Private Time". Pick it. The customer and service fields clear themselves.

  4. Give it a name (optional)

A small title field appears, for example "Lunch" or "Personal". This name is visible only to you. Customers just see that the time is taken.

Choose when the block starts and how long it runs. For a whole day, open "More options" and turn on "All day". For a standing break, turn on "Recurring" in the same place.

Tips from the field

For a holiday of several days, create one "All day" block and extend it across the dates rather than one block per day.

For a standing lunch break, a recurring block is far easier to manage than splitting your business hours in two.

A block does not cancel appointments already booked at that time. If something is already there, handle it separately.

Common questions

Because as far as the calendar is concerned, a block is just an appointment with no customer. That is why you create it from the same place you create an appointment, and why you can drag and edit it exactly like one.

No. The title is visible only to you and your team. Customers see that the time is unavailable, with no detail.

Tap it in the calendar and delete it, exactly like an appointment. Those hours become bookable again immediately.

Not if you connected Google Calendar and turned on blocking of booking windows. Then events in your personal calendar block the time in Timing on their own.
