Automated Messages

With Timing you set a rule once and the message sends itself: a greeting on the customer's birthday, a nudge to a customer who hasn't been back after as long as you choose, or a fixed message every month. Marketing messages go only to customers who agreed to receive them.

Why Automated Messages in Timing?

  • A birthday greeting that goes out on its own, every year, on the customer's birthday

  • A nudge to a customer who hasn't been back - you choose after how many days

  • A fixed message every month, or on a date saved on the customer card

  • A message after a customer fills in a form, or when a new customer joins

  • Send only to who fits: by tag, gender or a service they booked

  • No messages at night: they go out by day

How It Works

  1. Choose When

A birthday, a customer who hasn't been back, every month on a fixed day, a date from the customer card, a form submitted or a new customer.

  2. Choose Who

All customers, or only those who match your conditions: a tag, gender or a booked service. The screen estimates how many customers match right now.

  3. Write the Message

The customer's name and other details go into the message with a tap, and you send it to yourself first as a sample, to see exactly what the customer gets.

  4. Switch It On

From then on the messages go out on their own, and each rule shows how many were sent. Before the first message to customers, the Timing team approves each business once.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who gets a birthday greeting?

Customers whose date of birth is saved on their card and who agreed to receive marketing. Birthday greetings and messages to customers who haven't been back are marketing, so they're labelled as an advertisement and come with an opt-out link, as the law requires.

Is there anything to do before the first message?

Yes, once. Before automated messages go out to customers, the Timing team approves each business, to keep customers safe from spam. On the automations screen, tap "Send a request". Until it's approved, your rules stay saved and nothing is sent.

A customer asked to stop receiving these. What happens?

A customer who unsubscribed gets no more marketing messages, and every rule enforces that on its own.

Which plan includes it, and how many rules can I run?

Automated messages start on the Professional plan, with five active rules at most, and the Premium plan has no limit. A rule that's switched off doesn't count.
